Position Summary
The Family Engagement Coordinator works closely with family and fictive family members in coordination with the Department of Social Services. He or she is responsible for convening family group meetings and engaging family members in open, honest and respectful dialog, in order to facilitate the development of a plan ensuring the safety and wellbeing of their children.

Performance ResultsActively seeks the collaboration of family groups in crafting and implementing a plan that supports the safety, permanency and well-being of their children.
Completes assessment interviews with family/fictive family/guardians and all interested parties to include in the completion of the ecomap and genogram and determine family conference invitees within 24 hours of referral for Family Team Meetings or within 25 days for the Family Group Conference.
Identifies and contacts the family members and child, including the extended family and fictive family, GAL, foster parents and Court Appointed Special Advocate, schedules a meeting at a time and location comfortable for the family, provides education about the process, informs members of concerns resulting in a need for the conference, and prepares participants to discuss options regarding the safety, well-being, and permanency of the child (ren). Arranges for phone conferencing and/or video conferencing in cases of an absent or incarcerated parent so that both parents can participate in the process.
Meets with parents face to face at a time convenient to the parent, to explain the Family Team meeting and Family Group Conference process.
Ensures the child?s voice is heard at the conference either through their attendance, by letter or proxy as in the best interest of the child.
Determines any cultural or family traditions or rituals to be honored during the conference.
Convenes a family meeting, according to the SCDSS process, and through a family focused, strength-based, approach which includes private family time, seeks the collaboration and leadership of the family group to craft and implement a Family Plan that ensures the safety and wellbeing of their children.
Completes all required documentation in a timely manner as per agency protocol and contract requirements including the Family Team Meeting Family Plan or the Family Group Conferencing/Reconferencing Family Plan.
Schedules and conducts re-conferencing every 4 months following as required.
Participates in the Quality Advancement activities including customer satisfaction.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelor Degree required from an accredited school preferably in social work or other human service field.
Must have successfully completed the Department of Social Services? Family Group Conferencing? Training
Education, training and/or experience related to the following is required:
Family facilitation, mediation or conflict resolution
Working with involuntary or resistant clients
Communication and ability to relate to diverse groups and manage interpersonal conflict
Professional assessment reports such as home studies
Working with groups of service providers, participating in briefings and brainstorming sessions and state and regional provider meetings
Telephone required.
Driver? license and reliable transportation required.
