Description:
The successful candidate will act as an Electronics Technician III for the Tactical Signals Intelligence Collection System (TSCS) and Team Portable Collection System (TPCS) Research and Development Effort. The TSCS is a modular, semi:automated, multi:platform transportable, and man packable system capable of conducting signals intercept, collection, exploitation, direction finding, and precision geo:location against threat communications. He/ She will performs a variety of complex technical functions related to the support of engineering activities such as set up, operation, maintenance, modification, circuit testing, calibration and troubleshooting of electronic or electro:mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, prototype modes or specialized test equipment. Applications may include analog, digital and/or video type circuits and logic systems. May provide work leadership for lower level employees.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Determines electronic and electro:mechanical system design and instrumentation needs from limited documentation, written and verbal instructions.
Designs, modifies, constructs and repairs complex electronic equipment and instruments.
Modifies existing equipment for improved performance and specialized application.
Trouble:shoots electronic equipment, data collection devices and analytical instrumentation using modern electronic testing equipment.
Develops or evaluates test procedures, determines circuit requirements and develops diagnostics prototype modes.
Prepares cost estimates of proposed equipment needs.
Prepares reports, charts, and graphs for scientific and engineering personnel to use in making decision on design or experiment development. Generates rough sketches and engineering drawings as needed.
Maintains records on equipment repairs, warranties and schematics.
Documents design and modification of equipment.
Diagnoses and corrects equipment and system malfunctions which fail to respond to standard corrective measures.
Generates rough sketches and engineering drawings and special techniques for control and implementation of research experiments.
May provide leadership and supervision for lower level employees.
Required Qualifications:
The clearance level required is Top Secret with Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) personnel security clearances, and must be eligible for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) immediately following contract award.
Education: High School diploma or GED. Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications, or four (4) year electronics apprentice program. Formal
electronics training, to include: Installation Tasks, Soldering, Cable Dressing, Cable Tray, Conduit, and Making/Repairing Connectors.
Experience: Eight (8) years of practical experience, to include: Electronics Repair, Maintenance, Installation and Checkout. Two (2) years of experience, to include: supervision, and shop practices. Three (3) years of practical experience, to include: electronics repair and installation, and six (6) years of experience with the task specific project. Note: Experience may be concurrent.
